Eligibility
- Good academic and disciplinary standing
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- DIS Interview: a 40-minute interview with representatives from DIS will take place for each student at the end of the application cycle. DIS will make decisions about acceptance and course fit. Acceptance to the program is based on the results of this interview as well as review of the GU application materials.

Advising Notes
- For students applying to the spring program through DIS, please note that the OGE application deadline is now in September. Planning ahead to meet with the DIS program advisor in time is highly recommended.
- DIS applicants can fulfill the "Meeting with OGE Advisor" application requirement in 2 ways. You can sign up for a Group Advising session or an individual advising session. For students who have general questions about the program, Group Advising is sufficient. Anyone can also make a one on one appointment with the DIS advisor.
About the Program
The DIS program in Copenhagen was established in 1959 and was designed as a program for students from American universities. Classes are taught in English by professors who often come from the faculties of the University of Copenhagen and the Copenhagen Business School. While European in course content, teaching approach, and faculty, DIS follows the formal structure of the American educational system, including its grading scale, credit structure, and modes of assessment.
The DIS program is unique in it’s approach to learning. Classes are taught from a Scandinavian perspective and each class includes mandatory field trips. In the case of the core course, 2 mandatory study tours are included in the course - both taking the students outside of Copenhagen to study the core course in a relevant setting. DIS also offers opportunities for students to engage in their community with host families, volunteering opportunities and involvement in clubs and athletics that help them meet Danes.
Location
The DIS program is located in Copenhagen and is housed in a beautifully restored building which dates from 1798 and is located in the center of the old city. The building houses the administrative offices, counselors' offices, a reference and study library, a student lounge, a computer room, and a few classrooms. Most classes are conducted in the main DIS building and a new building across the street from DIS.

Courseload
You are required to enroll in a full courseload and complete all exams and assignments associated with the course regardless of the credit you wish to receive on the program. Withdrawal from a course or failure to take/complete a final will be regarded as an unauthorized reduction in courseload and a violation of the academic policy.
A full courseload for this program is: 5 courses or 15-16 credits
DIS offers a wide range of
academic programs,
core courses, and electives. You will take a total of five courses per semester: 1 program core course, 1 required Danish language course and 3 electives. As part of the core course, you will participate in 2 mandatory
study tours which explore the subject through field trips within Scandinavia and in Europe.
The minimum passing grade for this program is: C
You are required to live in program housing.
There are 5 housing options:
If you live in a Kollegium, Living & Learning Community, or Rented Room you are responsible for preparing your own meals in a shared kitchen. DIS provides a small stipend each semester to help offset the cost of meals. If you live in a Folkehøjskole or Homestay some meals are provided by your housing, you will not receive a food stipend.
